CobraHead Redesign - Weeder and Rake
Brand Concept, Redesign
Model materials: balsa wood, clay
Overview
How might we enhance the experience of gardeners with mobility issues?
This is a concept for a handheld weeder and rake fusion for seniors (65+ years) inspired by CobraHead’s weeder design.
This project serves to redesign a gardening tool from a known gardening brand to cater to seniors (65+ yrs). My design is based on CobraHead's handheld weeder design with alterations based on extensive research on mobility limitations of older individuals and different gardening tools.

USER RESEARCH (65+ YEARS)
Seniors often experience physical health issues such as:
Many handheld gardening tools put a lot of strain on the wrist due to the ways they are held, and also occasionally require wrist mobility.
There are typically two different types of weeders, the puller (pulls roots) and the cutter (cuts roots). CobraHead is known for their unique blade that can be used for pulling out and cutting weeds, also used as a cultivator. There are many potential changes that can allow for even more multipurpose uses.
